4 Easy Steps for Organizing Your Home Office

It’s great to have an office in the home. With everything in one place, it’s easy to get work done. For some people keeping the office organized is a chore. In fact, it can be practically impossible. If you’re one of these people, here are some tips for organizing your home office.

The first step in organizing your home office is to clear everything out of your office except the furniture. Just put it in boxes so that you can start all over.

Next you want to make a plan for where everything big – furniture, computer, printer, etc. – will go in your office. Think about where things will work best for you. You may be fine with the location of everything already. If so, then that’s fine.

For the third step organizing your home office you should begin to unpack the boxes and place things where you want them. For example, you may want the computer paper near the printer. Keep placing things where you want them until the boxes are empty. Also, as you take things out of the box, make sure you’re only putting out things that you really need and want to stay out. The rest can be packed away in a closet or somewhere else. (The fewer things that are out the fewer you have to keep organized.)

Finally, once you have your home office organized, take the time at the end of each night to put everything back where it goes. You may need to get some bins or folders to help you get everything off your desk. Buy whatever you need and make sure you keep things organized.

Home offices are great but they can also be a source of stress if they become messy. To keep your home office organized all you have to do is follow 4 easy steps.
